Teachers Training at Rawalpindi with Focus on BS Level Teaching
Rawalpind_A training and capacity building session for college teachers was held at Govt. Graduate College Satellite Town Rawalpindi on December 10, 2022. Training was focused on enhancing capacity to teach Bachelor of Science (BS) degree programs. The one-day interactive session was conducted by lead trainer Prof Dr Audil Rashid who is currently working at University of Gujrat as Chairperson of Botany Department and Director ORIC. Over 50 participants from various educational institutions including Govt. Associate College Mohen Pura Rawalpindi, Govt. Associate College Zafar-ul-Haq Road Rawalpindi, Govt. Post Graduate College Asghar Mall Rawalpindi and NUML University Islamabad attended the session in which an overwhelming number comprised of female teachers.
Dr. Audil Rashid compared various pedagogy vs andragogy approaches and emphasized the need of transforming teachers to mentors. He identified various online resources that are valuable for effective BS level teaching and also discussed competence based learning as key aspects for making BS curriculum demand driven for 21st century. Dr. Rashid gave guidelines regarding essential preparations before the onset of semester to enable teachers effectively plan their lecturers, learning material and project-based activities. He stressed upon the teachers to be creative during teaching of BS courses and helped them in devising innovative rubrics for course evaluation. At the end, organizers Prof Dr Ather Qaseem (Principal of host college) and Prof Dr Bushra Parveen conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Audil Rashid for conducting this highly informative training session.
