Taylor Swift Releases Star-Studded, 90s-Inspired ‘Opalite’ Music Video

The episode aired on October 3, the same day Swift released her 2025

NEW YORK: (Web Desk) – Pop icon Taylor Swift has unveiled the official music video for her song Opalite, delivering a visually rich, nostalgia-laden project that blends a 1990s aesthetic with a deeply personal backstory and an ensemble of high-profile celebrity appearances.

The video, released Friday on Spotify and Apple Music, presents a moody retro romance centered on two lonely characters played by Swift and Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson. Set against a dreamlike backdrop reminiscent of mall culture and vintage television, the narrative unfolds through fleeting encounters and stylised vignettes.

Adding to the cinematic feel, Lewis Capaldi appears as a photographer working inside a shopping mall, while Greta Lee and Jodie Turner-Smith feature in fictional television commercials woven into the storyline. Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy also makes a notable appearance, elevating the project’s star power.

In an Instagram post shared alongside the release, Swift revealed that the concept for Opalite originated unexpectedly during her appearance on The Graham Norton Show in October. The episode aired on October 3, the same day Swift released her 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl.

Swift recalled that during the broadcast, Gleeson jokingly expressed interest in appearing in one of her music videos. “He’s Irish! He was joking!” she wrote, adding that the comment immediately sparked a creative idea.

Inspired, Swift wrote a script for Opalite and sent it to Gleeson just one week after the show aired, casting him in the lead role. She later expanded the concept to include the rest of the talk show’s panel, including Lee, Turner-Smith, Capaldi and host Graham Norton himself.

Describing the collaboration humorously, Swift said it felt “like a school group project but for adults — and it isn’t mandatory.”

The Opalite video has already drawn widespread attention for its nostalgic tone, cinematic execution and unique origin story, further cementing Swift’s reputation for innovative storytelling in music visuals.
