Tarar Says Public Rejects PTI’s Wheel-Jam Strike Call

Federal Minister Claims PTI Wheel Jam Strike Failed Across KP

Islamabad: (Mudassar Ch/ Web Desk) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that the people of Pakistan have rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) call for a wheel-jam strike, on Sunday.

In a statement, Attaullah Tarar remarked, “This is the first time I’ve seen that the wheel-jam call has itself jammed.” He added that the public had also paid no heed to what he described as politics of hatred and division.

It may be recalled that PTI observed a province-wide wheel-jam and shutter-down strike across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, including the provincial capital Peshawar, to protest alleged rigging in the February 8, 2024, general elections. The strike, however, witnessed mixed results, with large-scale mobilisation in some urban centres while causing limited disruption in others.

PTI Observes Black Day With Nationwide Protest

In Peshawar, PTI workers staged protests and enforced stoppages on several major roads and highways. Public transport services were suspended in parts of the city, though the government-run Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service remained operational. Taxi services were also reported to be functional in various localities.

Despite the strike call, commercial activity continued in several areas of the provincial capital. Many shops remained open in different markets, while food outlets and essential commodity stores continued operations in selected localities. The Food Street at Fawara Chowk in Peshawar Cantonment was reported to be fully active, and most shops along University Road also remained open.
