T20 World Cup 2024: South Africa beat England qualify for semi-final after thrilling win

South Africa have qualified for semi final round after they pulled out a thrilling seven runs win over England in a Super Eight match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Beausejour Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Remained unbeaten at the T20 World Cup after they defeated reigning champions England by seven runs in a thrilling second-round Super Eights clash in St. Lucia on Friday.

The Proteas were restricted to a modest 163-6 after losing the toss but England, having recovered from a top-order collapse, could not manage the 14 runs they needed off the last over before finishing on 156-6.

A disciplined bowling performance helped Protease restricted the opponent team to as they were chasing the target of 164 runs.

After England lost his top order in early blows, Harry Brook (53) and Liam Livingstone (33) tried hard to clinch the win for their side but their dismissal turned the situation into South Africa’s favour in last over.

Earlier, England won the toss and put South Africa to bat first. Protease lost their opening batsman Reeza Hendricks in an early blow. However Quinton de Kock played a fiery knock of 63 for 38 to boost the total.

After his dismissal David Miller smashed 43 for 28, helping his side to set a challenging target of 164 runs for English team.

England’s Jofra Archer showed magic with ball as he took three wickets.
