Syeda Amna Batool Joins FIFA Institutional Reforms Committee
Pakistan Strengthens Football Federation with PM, FIFA Praise, Reforms
Islamabad/Doha (News Desk) – In a significant diplomatic and sporting achievement, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Madam Syeda Amnah Batool has been appointed as a member of the prestigious FIFA Institutional Reforms Committee. MNA Batool is the only representative from Pakistan on any of the FIFA Committees who have so far participated in the Plenary Session and related meetings today in Qatar. This landmark appointment signifies FIFA’s renewed confidence in Pakistan’s institutional direction and its commitment to contributing constructively to global football governance.
The appointment comes as a visible outcome of the current government’s dedicated efforts to revive and consolidate Pakistan’s football landscape after a difficult institutional period. Political Will and International Lobbying: The Government of Pakistan, under Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, has demonstrated clear political will for the revival and protection of football as an independent and merit-based sport.
The Prime Minister’s recent engagement with the AFC President and FIFA Senior Vice President, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to an autonomous and transparent football federation, nationwide football development, and hosting international football events. FIFA President Gianni Infantino has praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for Pakistan’s growing commitment to football. The current administration is consciously aligning itself with FIFA’s values of inclusion and transparency, marking a clear shift away from the era when the Pakistan Sports Federation (PFF) faced non-functionality and international sanctions due to undue interference. But for the past six months, Syed Mohsin Gillnai, President PFF, has made significant efforts at local and international level to revive and upgrade this Federation. This moment symbolizes Pakistan’s “return to credibility” and trust-based international engagement.

The way forward includes structured, measurable, and partnership-based collaboration with FIFA. And consciously linking talent development with gender-responsive sports governance, evidenced by milestones like the appointment of the first female manager for the men’s national team.
MNA Batool’s work within FIFA will remain centered on strengthening reform mechanisms and ensuring implementation credibility, ensuring that Pakistan becomes a credible and constructive member of the global football family.
