Swat Deputy Commissioner Issues Public Safety Alert Amid Terrorism Concerns
In response to growing fears of potential terrorism threats, the deputy commissioner of Swat has issued a warning, advising the postponement of all public gatherings to protect public safety.
This alert follows the announcement of a planned peace march by the Swat Qaumi Jirga after Jummah prayers. Despite the warning, the jirga has reaffirmed its commitment to proceed with the march, asserting that no one will be permitted to incite artificial terrorism in the area.
Scheduled for 2 PM at Nishat Chowk in Mingora, the peace march will see heightened security measures implemented by local police to ensure the safety of participants.
Support for the peace march has come from all major political parties, legal professionals, the business community, and civil society members, all of whom have confirmed their attendance.
Rejecting the deputy commissioner’s warning, the Swat Qaumi Jirga is determined to move forward with the march. Community leaders are calling for solidarity and peace amid the ongoing unrest.
