Suspects in Islamabad businessman’s murder arrested within 24 hours

Five suspects arrested fast after Islamabad businessman killing as police use modern tools and wide raids across the country

Islamabad Police – (Web Desk) – All five suspects linked to the fatal robbery of Islamabad businessman Aamir Awan have been caught — and it all happened within just 24 hours. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry shared this update on Tuesday, bringing some relief to a shocked city.

Awan was shot by armed robbers at his Islamabad farmhouse on March 29. He fought for his life but sadly passed away during treatment the very next day.

Speaking at a press conference alongside Islamabad’s top police officer, IG Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Chaudhry revealed that the gang behind the attack is known as the Mansoor Khan Group — commonly called the “Bulletproof Jacket Wala Gang.”

The gang has deep roots in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and two of its members are Afghan nationals. Authorities noted that this group operated in remote areas of the province where even police rarely ventured.

What makes the operation even more impressive is its scale — arrests were made all the way from Karachi to Khyber, covering the length of the country.

Chaudhry also took the opportunity to highlight a broader success story, pointing out that major crimes in Islamabad have dropped by a striking 63% compared to last year — a sign that the city’s law and order situation is genuinely turning a corner.

Acknowledging past shortcomings in police depratment, including a lack of forensic facilities and incomplete Safe City infrastructure, he said the issues were being addressed simultaneously.

The minister vowed to make Islamabad Pakistan’s first Smart City.

Briefing the media on police work, the Islamabad police chief said that the case was thoroughly investigated using modern technology, including artificial intelligence and geofencing across six locations.

Police analysed data from 137 calls and questioned 93 individuals, he said, adding that raids were conducted in KP’s Charsadda and Mardan, along with raids in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

IG Rizvi said that the gang’s ringleader was arrested in KP’s Charsadda.

He added that the gang was highly organised and had disarmed the victim’s guard, seizing a rifle and mobile phones during the armed robbery.
