SUPARCO Predicts Eidul Fitr in Pakistan Likely to Fall March 21

Low chance of Shawwal moon sighting on March 19 suggests Ramazan may complete 30 days.

SUPARCO – (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) says Eidul Fitr is likely to be celebrated on March 21. The agency explained that the Shawwal moon will be born on March 19 at 6:23am. However, the chances of seeing the crescent that evening are very low. At sunset on March 19, the moon will be only about 12 hours and 41 minutes old, which makes sighting difficult. Because of this, Ramazan is expected to complete 30 days this year.

SUPARCO also shared that along Pakistan’s coastal areas, the moon will remain visible for about 28 minutes after sunset on March 19. Even with this short time, the moon may not be easily seen. Therefore, Eidul Fitr is expected to fall on Saturday, March 21, marking the end of the holy month of Ramazan.

However, the final announcement will be made by the Central Ruet e Hilal Committee of Pakistan. The committee reviews witness reports and confirmed observations from across the country before declaring the start of a new Islamic month.

Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department also predicted that the Shawwal moon is unlikely to appear on March 19. This means Ramazan will probably complete 30 days this year.
