Sugar Prices Surge to Rs. 210 per Kilogram Across Pakistan
The national average price of sugar has climbed to Rs. 188.81 per kilogram, up from Rs. 185.04 per kilogram last week.
Multan (Special Correspondent) — Despite all efforts to control rising costs, sugar prices across Pakistan have increased sharply, reaching up to Rs. 210 per kilogram in some cities. Over the past week, sugar prices have surged by up to Rs. 10 per kilogram, making the commodity increasingly unaffordable for consumers.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Peshawar recorded the highest price increase, with sugar now selling at Rs. 210 per kilogram. Other major cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Bannu saw sugar prices rise to Rs. 200 per kilogram, while in Karachi, the price reached Rs. 195 per kilogram.

The national average price of sugar has climbed to Rs. 188.81 per kilogram, up from Rs. 185.04 per kilogram last week. Comparatively, a year ago, the average price stood at Rs. 134.08 per kilogram.
The persistent rise in sugar prices has placed additional strain on household budgets, highlighting the ongoing challenge of stabilizing essential food commodity prices in the country.
