STZA & NRTC Forge Historic Partnership with PKR 12.5 Billion Zone Development Agreement

NRTC, recognized as a special technology zone, is set to spearhead the development of a purpose-built facility dedicated to high-tech production.

ISLAMABAD: In a landmark development for Pakistan’s technology landscape, the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) and the National Radio & Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) have inked a transformative PKR 12.5 Billion Zone Development Agreement. This agreement heralds a significant leap forward for the country’s Special Technology Zones (STZs), particularly in the realm of high-tech production.

NRTC, recognized as a special technology zone, is set to spearhead the development of a purpose-built facility dedicated to high-tech production. This state-of-the-art facility will focus on a wide array of technologies including information and communication technologies, biomedical technologies, agritech, robotics, power, and artificial intelligence-enabled Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. Additionally, NRTC will continue its production of high-end technology products for the defence sector.

The rapid progress of this pivotal project has been made possible through the strategic support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), which has identified STZA as a key player in driving economic growth. Covering an expansive 46.88 acres of land in Haripur, NRTC’s operational facility boasts top-tier tech infrastructure, poised to catalyze a significant expansion of high-tech capabilities.

Following the signing of the agreement, STZA has officially verified and licensed NRTC’s facility to lead the development of a cutting-edge technology ecosystem. This positions NRTC as a central platform for indigenous innovation, export growth, import substitution, and job creation.

The official signing ceremony, held at the STZA Headquarters in Islamabad, convened the leadership teams of STZA, SIFC, and NRTC, forging a formidable alliance committed to driving innovation and fostering growth within Pakistan’s burgeoning technology industry.
