Islamabad Police has launched a special Friends of Police program to raise awareness among citizens about traffic laws and road safety

Islamabad: Students volunteers completed Friends of Police program with Islamabad Police. According to the details, following the special directives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Police has launched a special Friends of Police program to raise awareness among citizens about traffic laws and road safety, a public relations officer said.

He said that, the 36th batch comprising 25 students from the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Science and Technology (SZABIST) has completed their program. On this occasion, students from Iqra University were also present, who will now participate in the program under the Friends of Police initiative.

In this regard, a dignified ceremony was held at the Police Lines Headquarters Islamabad. The ceremony was attended by IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi as a chief guest. While, SSP Traffic Muhammad Sarfraz Virk, university students, and members of the Islamabad Police education team were also present.

On the occasion, the IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi welcomed the Friends of Police volunteers, highlighted the significance of completing their training and the arrival of a new batch.

For me, the most important thing was visiting schools and colleges to shape students’ minds for a better society. Changing public perception of the police is extremely difficult. We are presenting our processes and services to the public so that people understand what the police are, said IG.

I do not believe in lofty claims but in working practically 24/7. He further said that from constable to IG, everyone works as a team. Those who serve the public are chosen by God. The police department is the first to respond in difficult times. We are aligning the police with the demands of the modern era.

The Islamabad Police are the guardians of the blood of 63 martyrs. Regardless of the color of the uniform, our commitment remains the same. We have established a relationship with you that is everlasting. The police culture comprises positive elements that need to eliminate negative ones, he added.

He further mentioned that we are starting a two-week internship program, which includes one week of general and one week of specialized training. The roles of volunteers in police and Friends of Police programs are the same, with public information being crucial in crime prevention.

Come, be a part of us, and serve the public together. At the end of the ceremony, he said that the Islamabad Police will continue to organize such programs in the future.

10 drug peddlers arrested; huge cache of drugs recovered

According to the details, following the special directives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Police has launched a special “Nasha Ab Nahi” tehreek to eradicate narcotics and keep the youngsters safe from the curse of drugs, public relations officers said.

He said that, during the last 24 hours, the Islamabad Police apprehended 10 drug peddlers from different areas of the city and recovered a huge cache of drugs from their possession.

Following these directions, the Aabpara police team arrested an accused namely Shahzada Tahir and recovered 230 gram ice from his possession. The Karachi Company police team arrested an accused namely Imran Imanat and recovered 22 bottles of liquor from his possession.

Likewise, the Industrial Area police team arrested an accused namely Aamir Masih and recovered 30 bottles of liquor from his possession. The Noon police team arrested an accused namely Aziz Ullah and recovered 515 gram hashish from his possession.

Similarly, the Khanna police team arrested an accused namely Darman Khan and recovered 43 gram ice from his possession. The Koral police team arrested two accused namely Muhammad Junaid and Aisha and recovered 670 gram heroin and 15 gram ice from their possession.

Moreover, the Kirpa police team arrested an accused namely Muhammad Awais and recovered 18 gram ice from his possession. Humak police team arrested an accused namely Samuel Saghar and recovered 1,030 gram heroin and 227 grams of ice from his possession.

IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi’s holds late night meetings with Officers

According to the details, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi held meetings with senior police officers at the Central Police Office Islamabad.

The meeting was chaired by IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, while, SSP Law and Order, SSP Security division, AIG Operations, and other officers were also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, IG Islamabad discussed the renewal of the Investigation Wing and reforms in the Special Protection Unit, Anti-Riot Unit, Counter-Terrorism Department, and Special Branch.

SSP Law and Order Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, SSP Security Syed Zeeshan Haider, and AIG Operations Abdul Haq Umrani presented their reports on the reforms. IG Islamabad reviewed the reports and issued further directions.

He said that the investigation process is being equipped with modern technology to meet the demands of changing times. New standing orders will soon be issued for the renewal of the Investigation Wing, he added.

He further said that the purpose of the reforms is to complete the investigation system in a timely and merit-based manner and to conduct better investigations of criminal cases to tighten the noose around criminal elements and eradicate crime from society.

IG Islamabad also held meetings with Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Virk and SSP Safe City Shoaib Khan. He reviewed the implementation of directives given to improve the traffic system in Islamabad and issued orders to SSP Safe City to expedite actions against traffic violations through e-challan and Safe City cameras.
