Pakistan Faces Cold Wave and Rain as Western System Approaches

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – A strong Western weather system is set to sweep across Pakistan, bringing fresh cold waves, intermittent rains, and thunderstorms to major cities including Lahore, Islamabad, and Multan. Residents are being advised to prepare for sudden weather changes.

The storm is expected to first hit southwestern Balochistan tonight before moving across western and northern regions by Monday. While most districts will experience partly cloudy skies, isolated showers and thunderstorms are likely in Layyah, Bhakkar, Khushab, Mianwali, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Khanpur, Multan, Jhang, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Dera Ghazi Khan.

In Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Chiniot, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Okara, heavy evening and nighttime rains with strong winds are anticipated. Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding hilly areas are forecasted to receive rainfall, gusty winds, and snowfall in the afternoon, with morning fog reducing visibility in several districts.

Severe Weather Grips Pakistan as Heavy Rain and Snowfall Disrupt Life Nationwide

Pakistan is currently experiencing cold and dry weather, with mountainous areas enduring extreme chill. Minimum temperatures recorded today include Leh at -14°C, Astore and Kalam at -9°C, Nathia Gali at -9°C, Parachinar at -8°C, Kalat at -8°C, Gupis at -7°C, Malam Jabba at -6°C, and Skardu and Quetta at -5°C.

Meteorologists have urged citizens to remain alert as this system could bring one of the coldest waves of the season, accompanied by sudden storms and snowfall in high-altitude regions.
