Strong earthquake shakes Peshawar, KP during Iftar time
5.6-magnitude earthquake shakes Peshawar and nearby Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts during iftar, causing panic but no reported casualties.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – (Web Desk) – A 5.6-magnitude earthquake shook parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday evening, sending tremors through Peshawar and several surrounding districts during iftar.
The quake struck at 6:10 pm, causing widespread panic as residents hurried out of their homes, shops, and mosques, many offering prayers amid the chaos.
Strong tremors were felt in districts including Upper and Lower Dir, Kurram, Nowshera, Abbottabad, Mardan, Swabi, Takht Bhai, Shangla, Khyber, Malakand, Mohmand, Charsadda, Swat, and Landi Kotal.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the earthquake measured 5.6 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 73 kilometers.
The epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, at latitude 35.55°N and longitude 69.70°E.
Despite the intensity of the tremors being felt widely across the province, initial reports indicated no immediate loss of life or property damage.
