Strong earthquake jolts Peshawar tremors felt across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Earthquake of 5.2 magnitude rattles Islamabad, Peshawar and northern KP districts, epicenter in Hindukush mountains.

Peshawar-Islamabad-Earthquake – (Special-Correspondent/Web Desk) – Mild earthquake tremors were felt in Islamabad, Peshawar, and several northern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Tuesday morning, creating panic among residents. People rushed out of their homes and workplaces as the ground shook, seeking safety in open areas.

Tremors Across Multiple Districts

According to local reports, the earthquake was experienced in Abbottabad, Charsadda, Chitral, Haripur, Malakand, Batkhela, Swabi, and surrounding regions. The National Seismological Centre confirmed that the quake measured 5.2 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was located in the Hindukush mountain range at a depth of about 190 kilometers. The depth of the quake helped limit damage despite the wide reach of the tremors.

No Reports of Damage So Far

So far, there have been no reports of casualties or major structural damage. Authorities, however, remain on alert. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has advised citizens to stay cautious, avoid standing near weak structures, and follow safety guidelines in case of aftershocks.

Pakistan, particularly the northern region, lies in an earthquake-prone zone, with the Hindukush range often being the epicenter of seismic activity. While earthquakes of this magnitude are common, preparedness and quick response remain key to minimizing risks.
