Steve Smith Becomes Third Australian to Score 11,000 Test Runs

SYDNEY: (Sports Reporter) – Australian batter Steve Smith has become the third Australian to reach 11,000 runs in Test cricket, achieving the milestone during the fourth day of the second Test against South Africa.

The 37-year-old top-scored for Australia with 28 runs in the first innings, as South Africa’s bowlers maintained pressure on the hosts.

Former Australian captains Ricky Ponting and Allan Border were the first Australians to surpass 11,000 Test runs. Ponting retired with 13,378 runs, while Border finished his Test career with 11,174.

Smith is the 12th batter overall to reach the 11,000-run milestone in Test cricket, further cementing his place among the format’s most prolific run-scorers.
