Steve Smith Becomes Highest-Scoring Overseas Batter at Lord’s

Islamabad: Australian star batter Steve Smith has etched his name into the record books by becoming the highest-scoring overseas player at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground.

During the ICC World Test Championship Final, Smith played a crucial knock of 66 runs — including 10 boundaries — at a time when Australia was struggling. Coming in with three top-order batters already dismissed for just 46 runs, Smith stabilized the innings and helped take the total to 146 before departing.

Later, Beau Webster contributed a valuable 72 runs, pushing Australia’s first-innings total to 212.

With this latest innings, Smith has now scored 591 runs at Lord’s across 10 innings at an impressive average of 59.10. This surpasses Warren Bardsley, who previously held the record with 575 runs. Other greats on the list include Sir Garfield Sobers (571 runs) and the legendary Don Bradman (551 runs).

Smith also set another milestone by becoming the batter with the most 50-plus scores (18) by an overseas player on English soil. He overtook Sir Vivian Richards and Allan Border, who each had 17 such scores.
