Stats Prove Babar Azam is the Slowest Top Order Batter in PSL 10
Babar Azam Posts Lowest Strike Rate Among PSL 10 Top-Order Batters
ISLAMABAD: Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam is having one of the worst Pakistan Super League (PSL) seasons. Expectations were high from the star opener, but his performances so far have left fans and analysts asking tough questions about his approach at the crease.
What’s more concerning is that Babar Azam currently holds the lowest strike rate among all top-order batters in PSL 10 who have faced at least 100 balls. With 178 runs from 162 balls, his strike rate stands at just 109.87. This is a significant drop for a player known for his class and consistency at the top of the order.

The issue isn’t limited to Babar alone. His opening partner, Saim Ayub, has also struggled to accelerate, recording the second-lowest strike rate (117.82) among batters with a similar number of balls faced. This slow start at the top has put extra pressure on the rest of the Zalmi lineup and has been a key factor in their inconsistent performances.
Here’s a look at the PSL 10 batters with the lowest strike rates so far (minimum 100 balls faced):
