Sri Lanka Defeats Bangladesh by 6 Wickets in Asia Cup T20 Group B Match

Sri Lanka reached the target in just 14.4 overs, losing four wickets along the way.

ABU DHABI: Sri Lanka comfortably defeated Bangladesh by 6 wickets in the fifth Group B match of the Asia Cup T20, strengthening their position in the group.

In the match held at the Abu Dhabi ground, Bangladesh batted first and posted 139 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The start of their innings was disappointing, with both openers dismissed for ducks. Captain Liton Das scored 28 runs, while a solid partnership at the end between Shamim Hossain (42* off 31 balls) and Zakir Ali (41* off 29 balls) stabilized the innings.

For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga claimed 2 wickets, while Dushmantha Chameera and Thisara Perera took one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 140, Sri Lanka’s openers provided a solid foundation. Pathum Nissanka played a brilliant knock of 50 runs off 34 balls, including 6 fours and a six. Kamil Mishara remained unbeaten on 46 runs from 32 balls, guiding the team towards victory. In the final moments, captain Charith Asalanka scored a quickfire 10* off just 4 balls to seal the win.
