Special Prosecutor Calls for Expanded Investigation in Mustafa Amir Murder Case

KARACHI — Special Prosecutor Zulfiqar Arain has formally requested an expanded investigation into the Mustafa Amir murder case, directing authorities to probe deeper into the accused, Armaghan Qureshi, and his potential links to terrorist financing and hostile elements. In a letter to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), and the investigating officer, Arain recommended several critical steps to ensure a thorough inquiry.

Arain urged that the parents of the accused, as well as the mother of the deceased, be included in the investigation. He raised serious concerns regarding Armaghan Qureshi and his associates, suggesting that they might be involved in financing terrorist activities. The prosecutor has requested that sensitive agencies conduct a detailed inquiry into these allegations to uncover any potential national security threats.

Additionally, Arain emphasized the importance of questioning Armaghan’s associates and the friends of Mustafa Amir to gather more information about possible motives. He also instructed investigators to look into both the accused and the victim’s financial dealings, including their property, business ventures, bank accounts, and travel history, to identify any links that might shed light on the case.

The letter also called for forensic analysis of weapons and other items recovered from Armaghan’s residence, ensuring they are treated as case property. Furthermore, Arain recommended seeking assistance from DHA security personnel and local intelligence officers to aid in collecting additional evidence.
