Both teams are now battling through the additional 30 minutes, striving to find a decisive goal and secure the Copa America title.
BERLIN, MIAMI: Spain emerged victorious in a thrilling Euro 2024 final, defeating England 2-1 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Spain’s triumph marks their unprecedented fourth European Championship, solidifying their reputation as a football powerhouse. La Roja showcased their dominance throughout the tournament and were undoubtedly the best team on display.
Spain’s manager opted for an unchanged lineup for the final, while England handed defender Luke Shaw his first start since February. The match was an exhilarating contest, with both teams displaying skill and determination. Spain’s victory leaves England to reflect on consecutive European Championship final defeats, continuing their search for an elusive international trophy.
Meanwhile, in the Copa America 2024 final, Argentina and Colombia are locked in a fierce battle. The match, held at Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, was marred by a chaotic start as numerous ticket-less fans breached security, delaying the kickoff by 82 minutes.
Argentina’s talisman, Lionel Messi, faced a challenging game. He and teammate Julián Álvarez missed early opportunities, with Colombia’s pressing style causing significant problems. Messi sustained an injury in the first half, forcing him off temporarily. Though he returned to the pitch, he was not at his best and was eventually substituted in the second half.
The second half saw a dazzling halftime performance by pop star Shakira, but the score remained deadlocked. Despite Argentina having the better chances, the match extended into extra time.
