South Korea reports North Korea fires around ten ballistic missiles
Tensions rise as North Korea fires missiles amid South Korea-US drills
North Korea Vs South Korea – (Web Desk) – North Korea fired about ten ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan on Saturday, South Korea’s military said. The launch happened just days after Pyongyang warned of “terrible consequences” over joint South Korea-US military drills.
Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missiles were launched from the Sunan area at around 1:20 pm local time. Japan’s defence ministry also confirmed the launch, saying it could be a ballistic missile.
The launch comes after recent tensions between Pyongyang and Seoul. North Korea has dismissed South Korea’s peace efforts, calling them a “clumsy, deceptive farce.”
Meanwhile, South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min-seok said US President Donald Trump thinks meeting North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, would be “good.” Trump has shown interest in talks and may meet Kim during his April visit to Beijing.
Despite past summits, sanctions, and pressure, North Korea’s nuclear program continues. Kim Jong Un recently said North Korea could “get along” with the US only if Washington accepts its nuclear status.
The US and South Korea began their spring military drills, “Freedom Shield,” on Monday. Around 18,000 troops are taking part. North Korea sees these drills as a rehearsal for invasion. Kim Yo Jong, Kim Jong Un’s sister, warned that the exercises could bring “unimaginably terrible consequences” and blamed “reckless acts of international rogues” for global tensions.

Pyongyang also condemned the US-Israeli attack on Iran, calling it an “illegal act of aggression” and proof of the US’s “rogue” nature.
