South Africa Trail by 148 Runs Against Pakistan on Day 2 of Second Test
South Africa now needs 148 more runs to equal Pakistan’s first-innings total, with six wickets remaining.
RAWALPINDI: On the second day of the second Test between Pakistan and South Africa, the visitors ended their first innings at 185 for 4, still trailing by 148 runs with six wickets in hand.
South Africa’s Tony de Zorzi scored a solid 55 runs, while Aiden Markram made 32, Ryan Rickelton added 14, and David Travis was dismissed without scoring. At stumps, Tristan Stubbs remained unbeaten on 68, with Verreynne on 10 at the crease.
From Pakistan’s bowling side, Asif Afridi, playing his debut Test, impressed by taking 2 wickets, while Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sajid Khan claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, Pakistan posted 333 runs in their first innings. Captain Shan Masood led the charge with 87 runs, followed by Saud Shakeel (66), Abdullah Shafique (57), and Agha Salman (45). The rest of the batting lineup failed to make a major impact, with Mohammad Rizwan (19), Imam-ul-Haq (17), and Babar Azam (16) among the lower scores.
Keshav Maharaj starred with the ball for South Africa, taking a brilliant 7-wicket haul for 102 runs. Dom Hendricks and Kagiso Rabada chipped in with 2 and 1 wickets respectively.
