ISLAMABAD: Pakistani soldier Rashid Mahmood was martyred during a counter-terrorism operation in Lakki Marwat, defense officials confirmed. The incident occurred during an engagement with militant forces in the region.
Family members describe Mahmood as having harbored a lifelong ambition to serve in the military. His father recalled that Mahmood demonstrated academic excellence throughout his education, maintaining positive relationships with his teachers and peers.
“From childhood, he was drawn to military service,” his father stated during a media interaction. “He pursued this passion by joining the army.”
His mother shared that Mahmood’s interest in military service manifested early, recounting how he would practice target shooting with toys purchased from local fairs. “He would tell me he was preparing to face the enemy,” she remembered.
Prior to his military service, Mahmood actively supported his sister’s education, helping her pursue a bachelor’s degree after she initially discontinued her studies following matriculation. “He assisted with every aspect of my education,” his sister stated.
According to family accounts, Mahmood was known in his community for maintaining respectful relationships with both elders and children. He participated in community support activities and remained actively engaged in family responsibilities throughout his service.
