SNGPL’s ongoing crackdown against gas pilferers intensifies

In a resolute move against gas pilferage, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has escalated its crackdown in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, resulting in the disconnection of 485 illegal connections. The company also imposed fines totaling Rs 4.14 million in an effort to curb gas theft.
In Lahore, the regional team conducted operations that led to the disconnection of 25 connections due to illegal gas usage and another 24 for the use of compressors. A substantial fine of Rs 0.08 million was imposed in these cases of gas theft. Similarly, in Rawalpindi, the team disconnected 183 connections for illegal gas usage and an additional 4 for compressor usage, imposing fines amounting to Rs 0.11 million against gas theft cases. The crackdown in Islamabad resulted in the disconnection of three connections due to illegal gas use.
Moving to Multan, the SNGPL team disconnected 4 connections for illegal gas usage and another 36 for compressor use. A significant fine of Rs 0.45 million was imposed against gas theft cases, and one FIR was lodged against gas pilferers.
In Peshawar and Karak, the company took action against 66 connections involved in direct gas usage and illegal gas use, imposing fines totaling Rs 2.33 million against gas theft cases. Two FIRs were also lodged against gas pilferers. The team in Mardan disconnected 20 connections due to illegal gas usage, imposing a fine of Rs 0.92 million against gas theft cases.

In Sheikhupura, 18 connections were disconnected for illegal gas use and another 6 for compressor use, resulting in a fine of Rs 0.01 million against gas theft cases. In Sargodha, the regional team disconnected one connection due to illegal gas use.
Meanwhile, in Bahawalpur, the team disconnected 63 connections for illegal gas use and another four for compressor use. In Faisalabad, the team disconnected one connection due to illegal gas use and another one for compressor use, imposing a fine of Rs 0.03 million against gas theft cases.
