SNGPL Cracks Down: 387 Gas Thefts Stopped, Rs 4.2M Fined

Lahore In a sustained effort to combat gas theft, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has disconnected 387 illegal gas connections across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad. The company also imposed fines totaling Rs 4.2 million on those involved in gas pilferage.

According to a company spokesperson, the crackdown is part of SNGPL’s broader strategy to curb non-technical losses and improve operational efficiency. The disconnections and penalties were the result of coordinated efforts by regional teams.

In Lahore, 124 connections were cut for illegal usage and two more for unauthorized compressor use, resulting in fines of Rs 1.93 million. Faisalabad followed with 43 illegal disconnections and Rs 0.47 million in penalties.

Sheikhupura’s team removed 7 unauthorized connections, collecting Rs 0.31 million in fines, while Multan recorded a significant enforcement action with 79 disconnections for illegal use and 37 for compressor usage.

Bahawalpur also saw extensive action, with 10 illegal and 79 compressor-related connections terminated. Gujranwala reported one disconnection but imposed a hefty Rs 0.25 million fine. In Sahiwal, five illegal users were penalized with fines totaling Rs 1.26 million.

SNGPL reiterated its commitment to rooting out gas theft and urged the public to report any suspicious activity through its helpline and official channels.
