Lahore (December 5, 2024) – A Lahore anti-terrorism court (ATC) has formally indicted senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, and several others, in the May 9 arson and vandalism case.

During a hearing held at a makeshift court inside the jail, the ATC judge read out the charges from the challan, to which the accused leaders, including Omer Sarfraz Cheema, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, and Senator Ejaz Chaudhary, denied the allegations. Despite their denial, the court proceeded with formally indicting them.

The case stems from an FIR registered at the Sarwar Road police station, following incidents of vehicle torching and property damage during the protests that took place on May 9. The accused have been charged in connection with the violence and destruction during the unrest.
