Six Security Personnel Martyred in Bannu Terrorist Attack, All Five Militants Killed

The incident highlights the ongoing threat of terrorism in Pakistan’s border regions.

Bannu – Six security personnel, including members of the Federal Constabulary and Pakistan Army, were martyred in the early hours of Tuesday when terrorists launched a coordinated attack on the Federal Constabulary Headquarters in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to security officials, the assault began with a suicide bombing, as militants rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the perimeter wall of the compound. The blast partially collapsed the outer structure and damaged nearby civilian properties, leaving three civilians injured.

Following the explosion, armed militants attempted to storm the facility, but were met with swift and effective resistance from stationed troops. A fierce gunbattle ensued, during which all five attackers were neutralized.

Security forces immediately launched a clearance operation, securing the area and beginning investigations into the attack’s planning and execution. Officials vowed that those responsible—including any facilitators—would be brought to justice.

KP Police Chief Confirms Clearance Operation Complete

Speaking at a press briefing in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed that the attack had been successfully repelled, all militants involved had been killed, and the clearance operation was complete.

IG Hameed acknowledged a rise in terrorist incidents in the southern districts of the province, stating that police operations against militants have increased by 25 percent this year.

He also warned of a new tactic being adopted by terrorist groups—the use of drones in attacks, mirroring modern warfare techniques. To counter this, anti-drone technology has been deployed to key police units across the province.

National Resolve Against Terrorism

The incident highlights the ongoing threat of terrorism in Pakistan’s border regions. In response, security officials reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating militancy and ensuring national security.

“The nation stands united with our armed forces. These sacrifices will not go in vain,” a senior security official stated.

Funeral prayers for the martyred personnel will be held with full military honors.
