Sirajul Haq Criticizes Political Elite, Calls for Justice and Accountability in Pakistan

Haq Criticizes PTI-PML-N Talks, Claims They Serve Vested Interests

ISLAMABAD: Former Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) emir Sirajul Haq criticized the current political leadership and expressed deep concern over the state of justice, peace, and democracy in Pakistan. Speaking at a press conference in Vehari on Sunday, Haq lamented the country’s ongoing issues, stating that despite facing numerous challenges, the ruling elite remained indifferent to the struggles of the common people.

Haq sharply criticized the ongoing political negotiations between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), claiming that these talks were driven by “vested interests” rather than addressing the country’s pressing national issues. He expressed disappointment that the dialogues between these political parties reflected personal agendas rather than genuine concern for the welfare of the nation.

Pointing to the widening gap between the ruling class and the ordinary citizens, Haq emphasized that the government had failed to address the growing socioeconomic challenges. He cited the struggles of the common man, particularly the inability to afford basic necessities like flour, and accused the government of not providing meaningful solutions to alleviate the hardships of the people.
