Sindh Police Finalize Security Plan For Youm-e-Ali

Comprehensive Security Arrangements Announced For Karachi’s Youm-e-Ali Procession

KARACHI (Web Desk) – The Sindh Police have finalized a comprehensive security plan for the upcoming Youm-e-Ali (RA) observances on the 21st of Ramadan in Karachi.

According to the Additional IG, foolproof security arrangements will be in place to ensure the safety of participants during the central procession. A total of 5,213 police officers and personnel will be deployed across the city, including 19 SSPs, SPs, 53 DSPs, and 4,244 other staff members.

The security plan includes snap checks, CCTV surveillance, and snipers stationed on tall buildings, while quick response teams will remain on high alert to handle any emergencies. Police personnel have also been assigned to key hospitals to maintain safety and order.

The Karachi Police Chief has instructed all officers to enforce law and order throughout the procession, creating a secure environment for both participants and the general public.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Government has declared a public holiday for all educational institutions in the province on Wednesday, March 11, in observance of Youm-e-Ali. The official notification issued by the School Education and Literacy Department applies to both public and private schools and colleges. The decision was made following recommendations during a meeting of the Steering Committee’s Sub-Committee held on February 12, 2026.

Youm-e-Ali is observed annually on the 21st of Ramadan, drawing thousands of participants to religious processions and gatherings across Pakistan in commemoration of the life and sacrifices of Hazrat Ali (RA).
