Sindh Health Dept. Declares Qaim Ali Shah’s Son Dead While He Serves as MS
Dr. Liaquat Ali Shah Works as MS Despite Death Claim
KARACHI: In an astonishing revelation, the Sindh Health Department has erroneously declared Dr. Syed Liaquat Ali Shah, the son of former Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, as deceased, despite the fact that he is actively serving as a medical superintendent (MS) at a government ophthalmology hospital.
This strange development came to light during a court submission regarding the recruitment case of an employee named Tariq Chhajro. A report submitted by the health secretary, health director general, and additional health secretary stated that Dr. Liaquat Ali Shah had issued the recruitment order but had since passed away. This claim has caused significant confusion within the Sindh Health Department, and officials are now hesitant to comment on the matter.
Dr. Liaquat Ali Shah has been working as MS at the eye hospital on a contract basis for the past two years. Prior to this, he served as a contract professor at a medical college following his retirement. He had also previously held the position of district health officer (DHO), where he was responsible for recruiting over 400 employees a decade ago. Currently, 161 of these employees still receive salaries, while other cases are pending in court.

When approached for comment, Dr. Liaquat Ali Shah declined to address the claims regarding his death. He stated that he had not received any official communication from the health secretary and would provide a written response once he does. The confusion surrounding the report has raised serious questions about the accuracy of information within the Sindh Health Department.
