Sindh Governor Seeks US Embassy’s Help in American Woman’s Case
Karachi-A peculiar case involving an American woman, Onija, has unfolded in Karachi’s Garden area. Onija’s prolonged stay in a local apartment has sparked concerns, with her demands evolving over time. Initially, she sought $20,000 every two weeks, but in a surprising turn of events, Onija withdrew her monetary demands. Instead, she now expresses a desire to make the apartment her permanent residence, leaving the situation shrouded in uncertainty.
According to reports, Onija had an online marriage to Ahmed Nadal from the US state of Utah and claims that she plans to settle down in the apartment she is staying in. Her contradictory statements and demands have baffled both local authorities and the US embassy.
Despite efforts by the police and embassy officials to convince Onija to reconsider her plans, she remains resolute in her intentions. When questioned about the US embassy’s involvement, she stated that the embassy does not support her and further declared that she dislikes their involvement.
As the situation escalated, residents of the apartment complex expressed their discomfort due to her presence. In response, the building management has restricted access to non-residents and closed the main entrance to maintain security.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has weighed in on the issue, calling for swift action from the US consulate in Karachi. He has demanded that the Foreign Office engage with the US embassy to understand their stance on the matter.
Tessori emphasized that this is not just a domestic issue between two Pakistani families, as it involves a foreign national.
He warned that if the situation escalates further, the responsibility would fall on local authorities, urging both the US embassy and the Foreign Office to address the issue promptly.
