Sindh to Overhaul Firefighting System With Major Funding Boost

KARACHI: (Web Desk) – The Sindh Cabinet has approved a comprehensive plan to modernise firefighting and emergency response systems across the province, allocating a substantial package of Rs 33.7 billion for the initiative.

According to official details, the plan includes the introduction of a public alert system alongside the procurement of advanced firefighting equipment and specialised emergency vehicles to strengthen response capacity across urban and rural areas.

The Sindh Cabinet also authorised coordination with the Chinese Consulate to seek technical cooperation and expertise for the project.

Sindh announces schedule for matric, intermediate examinations

Under the approved programme, the provincial government will procure 100 fire tenders, 35 water bowsers, 50 snorkels, and all-terrain firefighting vehicles to enhance operational reach in difficult terrain and high-rise emergencies.

In addition, eight dedicated firefighting drones and 12 multi-purpose drones will be acquired to support surveillance, rescue operations, and real-time assessment during emergencies. The project is estimated to cost Rs 32.7 billion over a three-year period.

To oversee implementation, a high-level committee has been formed comprising Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah and Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar. The committee will monitor progress and ensure timely execution of the initiative.
