Siddiqui Criticizes Imran Khan, Says He Has Not Been Part of Parliament Since 2000

Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui, in a media interaction on Thursday, criticized the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stating that PTI founder Imran Khan had not been part of the parliament since 2000.

Siddiqui emphasized the sacrifices made by Pakistan in its fight against terrorism, mentioning that the country had lost 80,000 people and that its security agencies and armed forces had made significant contributions to combating terrorism. He stated, “No nation has faced such challenges or endured such losses as Pakistan has.”

The senator also pointed out that the PTI lacked parliamentary, democratic, and ethical traditions. He argued, “This party does not hold parliamentary or democratic values.”

Referring to Pakistan’s role in capturing terrorists and handing them over to the United States, Siddiqui stated that this move had been praised by former US President Donald Trump. He also highlighted the issue of weapons left by the US in Afghanistan, which are now being used in acts of terrorism.

Criticizing PTI’s approach, Siddiqui added, “The PTI believes in street power, which it no longer has. They have come to us for talks after realizing the futility of protests and rallies.”

Siddiqui concluded by saying that PTI’s leadership had never believed in political traditions, reiterating that Imran Khan had resigned and left when he was first elected to parliament. He also acknowledged the sacrifices of Pakistan’s security forces, underscoring their importance in ensuring national security.
