Pakistan & Giorgia – (Web Desk) – Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had a friendly phone call with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Thursday, where the two leaders caught up on the latest diplomatic developments and the security situation across the region.
Meloni took the opportunity to praise Pakistan for its impressive role in helping broker a ceasefire and getting the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table. She also gave a special nod to Islamabad for stepping up as the host of the upcoming US-Iran peace talks, calling it a bold and meaningful move toward calming tensions in the region.
On his part, Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed that Pakistan remains deeply committed to peace and stability. He also expressed his appreciation for a recent joint statement put out by Italy and other key European and international partners, who voiced their support for Pakistan’s ongoing peace-building efforts.
He emphasized that dialogue and cooperation remain essential to addressing complex regional challenges.

During the conversation, both leaders also expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in Lebanon, stressing the urgency of coordinated international action to prevent further escalation.
They agreed that sustained diplomatic engagement and collective efforts by the global community are crucial to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
