SHC Summons FIA Director Over Mehwish Hayat’s Defamation Plea

Two-member bench headed by Justice Nimatullah Phalphoto heard the petition from the actresses against Raja, accusing him of spreading defamatory content online

KARACHI: SHC Summons FIA Director Over Mehwish Hayat’s Defamation Plea. The Sindh High Court has summoned the Deputy Director of FIA Cybercrime following a plea by actresses Mehwish Hayat and Rabia Iqbal, also known as Kubra Khan, against Adil Farooq Raja for running a false campaign on social media.

According to sources, a two-member bench headed by Justice Nimatullah Phalphoto heard the petition from the actresses against Raja, accusing him of spreading defamatory content online. Despite court summons, investigating officers Arifa Saeed and Komal did not appear.

Khawaja Naveed Advocate highlighted that objectionable content related to Mehwish Hayat remains on social media, and the FIA investigation officer’s absence, despite court orders, was noted.

The court has adjourned the hearing until August 19 and summoned the Deputy Director of FIA Cybercrime to appear.

The petition states that YouTuber Adil Farooq Raja defamed four actresses by making false allegations, damaging their honor and dignity. Despite retracting his claims in a subsequent video, the actresses’ reputations have suffered irreparable harm. The FIA and PTA have been contacted to remove the defamatory content, but no action has been taken against the YouTuber.
