Islamabad– The Shawwal moon has been sighted across Pakistan, marking the end of Ramadan and confirming that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday, March 31.
The central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, convened to observe the moon sighting, with participation from religious scholars, experts from the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), and meteorological officials.
Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad confirmed the moon sighting and mentioned that although some areas experienced cloudy weather, reports from Lahore, Islamabad, Sheikhupura, and Kasur confirmed the sighting.
Earlier, experts had indicated that the Shawwal moon had been born on March 28 at 3:59 PM, and by the time of sunset today, the moon’s age would exceed 25 hours, making it visible to the naked eye.
