Shakib Al Hasan Cleared of Suspect Bowling Action After Successful Test
Shakib's latest success came after he passed his bowling action test in England
Bangladesh’s veteran all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, has been cleared of a suspect bowling action after months of scrutiny and multiple assessments. The 37-year-old cricketer, who had previously failed two reassessments, successfully rectified his bowling action in his latest test.
This is a significant development for Shakib, especially after he was excluded from Bangladesh’s ICC Champions Trophy squad due to concerns about his ability to participate solely as a specialist batter. His suspension had also ruled him out of the event, which he had hoped could serve as his international cricket farewell.
Shakib’s latest success came after he passed his bowling action test in England, with the phrase “third time lucky” proving true for the all-rounder. Speaking with a local sports platform, Shakib confirmed the good news, saying, “The news is right (about passing the bowling test), and I am cleared to bowl again.”

Shakib’s bowling action had first come under scrutiny during a County Championship match for Surrey against Somerset in September 2024. Following an independent evaluation by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), he was suspended, leading to two subsequent reassessments—one in England and another in India—both of which he failed before finally being cleared in his recent test.
