Afridi Urges AJK Govt to Set Up Cricket Academy for Kashmiri Youth
Leepa Valley – Pakistan’s former cricket star Shahid Khan Afridi visited Leepa Valley along the Line of Control (LoC) to meet with victims affected by recent Indian aggression. The visit aimed to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people and highlight their resilience in the face of ongoing hostilities.
Speaking to locals in Hattian Bala, Afridi praised the spirit and unity of the Kashmiri people, calling them a “symbol of love, peace, and courage.” He lauded their unwavering support for the Pakistan Army during the recent tensions at the LoC and said he had come to personally thank them on behalf of the entire Pakistani nation.
Afridi also acknowledged the role of the media during the aggression, calling its efforts “commendable” in presenting the truth and standing by the nation in a time of crisis. “Our armed forces always advocate for peace and only act in the defense of the homeland,” he stated.
Highlighting the potential of the youth in the region, Afridi expressed concern that Kashmir’s immense talent is being wasted due to lack of support. He urged the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to establish a cricket academy to nurture and preserve local talent.
