Seven-Year-Old Martyred in Indian Shelling Laid to Rest in Islamabad

Pakistan Vows Strong Response to Civilian Targeting Across LoC

Rawalpindi, May 7, 2025 – The funeral prayer for seven-year-old Irtaza Abbas Turi, the son of Lieutenant Colonel Zaheer Abbas Turi, was held with solemnity today in Islamabad. Irtaza was martyred in Dawarandi, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as a result of unprovoked Indian cross-border shelling.

The ceremony was attended by key national leaders including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and the Information Minister. Also in attendance were Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and a large number of senior military officials, government representatives, soldiers, and family members of the martyr.

In his remarks following the funeral, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned India’s actions, calling the deliberate targeting of civilians—including children, women, and the elderly—a “cowardly and reprehensible act.” He stated that such attacks reflect a dangerous and arrogant mindset within the Indian government, threatening both regional and global peace.

Both the President and the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering resolve, declaring that the Armed Forces are responding robustly and decisively across all fronts. They emphasized that India’s blatant violations of international law and humanitarian principles would not go unanswered.
