Blast in Lakki Marwat kills seven police officers amid rising cross-border attacks
Lakki Marwat – (Web Desk) – At least seven police officers were killed in a blast near a police vehicle in the Bettani area of Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a police spokesperson said on Friday.
The explosion happened close to a police mobile. Six officers died on the spot, while one was seriously injured. The injured officer was taken to Insaafuddin Hospital but sadly passed away during treatment.
After the blast, more police teams were sent to the area. They secured the site and assisted with the response.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack. He paid tribute to the martyred officers and offered his condolences to their families.
Terrorist attacks have been increasing in Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which share a border with Afghanistan. The rise began after the Taliban returned to power in 2021.
To fight these threats, Pakistan launched “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq.” So far, at least 641 Afghan Taliban fighters have been killed in strikes along the border and inside Afghanistan.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said over 855 Taliban fighters have been injured, 243 checkposts destroyed, 42 captured, and 219 tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery guns eliminated.
Before this, Pakistan targeted seven terrorist camps along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. These belonged to Fitna al Khawarij (FAK), its affiliates, and Daesh-Khorasan. The strikes were in response to recent suicide attacks.
The airstrikes were carried out in Nangarhar, Paktika, and Khost provinces of Afghanistan. Security sources said more than 80 militants were killed in the operations.

Back in October 2025, Pakistan and Afghanistan also clashed at the border after the Afghan Taliban and other militants launched attacks on Pakistani posts. More than 200 Taliban fighters were killed, while 23 Pakistani soldiers were martyred defending the border.
Despite several talks, both countries could not reach an agreement. The Afghan Taliban regime has not taken action against the terrorist groups operating from its side of the border.
