ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist Matiullah Jan, who was earlier reported missing after an alleged abduction in Islamabad, has been found at the Margalla Police Station, according to recent updates. The news comes after a wave of concern following claims made by prominent journalist and anchor Hamid Mir.
On Thursday morning, Mir took to X (formerly Twitter) to report that Matiullah Jan and another journalist, Saqib Bashir, had been abducted by unidentified individuals on the night of November 26. While Bashir was later released, Jan remained missing, raising alarm among journalists and the public alike.
In a follow-up, Roohan Ahmad, another journalist, confirmed that Jan was reportedly taken from outside PIMS Hospital in Islamabad. Ahmad’s statement adds further context to the growing uncertainty surrounding Jan’s disappearance.
The case took a dramatic turn when it was revealed that Saqib Bashir had filed a petition with the Islamabad High Court regarding the incident, seeking legal action for the abduction.

Matiullah Jan, a well-known journalist, had recently shared a controversial video on social media showing a Rangers official being run over by a vehicle in Islamabad. Amid mounting concerns over his safety, a post from journalist Arifa Noor at 9:12 AM confirmed that Matiullah Jan had been located at Margalla Police Station. Journalists were reported to be heading to the station to meet with him and clarify the situation further.
