Senate Standing Committee Demands Decade-Long Performance Report from Flood Commission
The Water Resources Committee has consequently demanded a detailed report addressing these irregularities
Islamabad: The Senate Standing Committee on Water Resources has called for a comprehensive 10-year performance report from the Flood Commission, highlighting concerns over repetitive and ineffective annual reports.
The committee meeting, chaired by Senator Shahadat Awan, revealed that all reports from 2017 onwards appeared to be mere copies of each other, with even minor details like “ABC in hrwts” remaining unchanged. Senator Awan criticized the Federal Flood Commission for consistently requesting billions of rupees in funds without demonstrating significant work or progress.
During the session, Chairman of the Flood Commission Ahmed Kamal presented a briefing identical to the one from 2021, further fueling frustration. Kamal outlined procedures for managing water levels at Tarbela Dam, which must be filled by August 20 annually, with excess rainwater released as needed.
