Selena Gomez Admits She Can’t Carry Her Own Children, Shares Journey of Acceptance

Singer and actress Selena Gomez has opened up about her inability to carry her own children due to medical complications, describing it as a painful reality she had to come to terms with. In a heartfelt interview with Vanity Fair, Gomez shared her personal struggle with this issue.

“I’ve never shared this before, but unfortunately, I can’t carry my own children,” Gomez revealed. “I have several medical issues that could endanger both my life and the baby’s. It was something I needed to grieve for a while.”

Gomez, who has been candid about her battle with lupus—a chronic autoimmune disease—underwent a kidney transplant in 2017 as a result of the condition. She has also discussed living with bipolar disorder, which, combined with her medication, could complicate a safe pregnancy.

Despite these challenges, Gomez remains hopeful about becoming a mother. She is considering surrogacy or adoption as alternatives. “It’s not how I initially envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it does for most people. But I’m in a much better place with it now,” she said. Gomez expressed gratitude for the available options and remains optimistic about her future journey to motherhood.

“I’m excited about how that journey will unfold, even if it’s different from what I expected. At the end of the day, I don’t mind. It will be my journey and my baby,” she added.

Gomez is currently in a relationship with music producer Benny Blanco, although she did not elaborate on any immediate plans for starting a family.
