Security Forces Neutralize 181 Terrorists in Counter-Terrorism Operations Across Pakistan

May witnessed a significant surge in anti-terrorism efforts, with 12 terrorists eliminated in Balochistan and 42 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

ISLAMABAD: Security forces have dealt a heavy blow to terrorism with a series of successful operations, resulting in the elimination of 181 terrorists across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh.

According to media reports, in a relentless crackdown from April 1 to June 10, 2024, security forces executed 7745 operations to dismantle terrorist networks. The Pakistan Army’s proactive measures, supported by timely intelligence, have thwarted numerous nefarious plots by terrorist outfits, particularly the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The breakdown of operations reveals a concerted effort, with 2701 operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4902 in Balochistan, and 142 in Sindh. Notably, 128 terrorists were neutralized in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 51 in Balochistan, and 2 in Sindh.

May witnessed a significant surge in anti-terrorism efforts, with 12 terrorists eliminated in Balochistan and 42 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Additionally, 61 terrorists were apprehended in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan during the same period.

The security forces’ vigilance has thwarted multiple cross-border infiltration attempts, with at least 20 such endeavors thwarted in Bajaur, Dir, and Chitral. In a crucial breakthrough, a TTP network targeting Chinese nationals was dismantled in Bisham.

Several ambush operations yielded success, including an operation at the Zhob border, where 7 terrorists were killed and 2 arrested. In DI Khan and Tank, 12 terrorists fell to an intelligence-based operation, while 19 were eliminated in North Waziristan.

Further, security forces conducted raids in Sheikh Badin area of Lakki Marwat, apprehending 11 terrorists. In Balochistan, infiltration attempts in Pishin and Qila Abdullah were thwarted, resulting in the elimination of 5 terrorists and the arrest of one.

The recent operations have also led to the apprehension of two suicide bombers, along with their handlers, and the recovery of suicide jackets, arms, ammunition, and explosives. Notably, terrorists involved in the Bisham attack are currently facing legal proceedings.

In Quetta, security forces foiled a major TTP plan targeting Muharram processions, effectively dismantling the terrorist network. The relentless pressure from security forces has left the TTP leadership in disarray, signaling a significant victory in the fight against terrorism.
