RAWALPINDI: (Web Desk) – Security forces, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, carried out a joint intelligence-based operation in Khyber District, killing 22 militants during a fierce exchange of fire, according to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations.
The operation, conducted on April 21, was launched after reports of militant presence in the area. Officials said troops engaged the militants in an intense gunbattle, resulting in the elimination of all 22 individuals.
During the encounter, militants reportedly opened indiscriminate fire, which led to the tragic death of a 10-year-old child caught in the crossfire.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the slain militants, who, according to the statement, had been involved in multiple attacks in the region.
Security forces have since initiated a sanitization operation to clear the area of any remaining threats. Authorities reiterated that counterterrorism efforts under the national campaign “Azm-e-Istehkam” will continue to target militant networks and ensure stability.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the operation, commending the professionalism and courage of the security forces.
In his statement, he paid tribute to the personnel involved and emphasized that the nation stands firmly behind its security institutions in their fight against militancy.
