Section 144 imposed for 90-Day in Gilgit
DC bans rally, protest on Karakoram Highway, Jaglot Skardu Road۔
Gilgit: Gilgit Deputy Commissioner Ameer Azam Hamza has clamped down on protests and gatherings along key highways within the district to maintain public order and imposed a 90-day ban on all such activities on the Karakoram Highway and Jaglot Skardu Road.
The official notification issued in Friday cites concerns about potential threats to law and order as the reason behind the restriction. It emphasizes the crucial role these highways play as vital commercial arteries of the country, underlining the need to ensure free and unobstructed flow of traffic.
Violators of the newly imposed Section 144 order face strict legal repercussions, with police authorized to take action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. This section deals with disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant, potentially carrying significant penalties.
Deputy Commissioner Hamza has urged the public to cooperate with the authorities and strictly adhere to the ban. He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region, particularly during this sensitive period.
