SCO Summit Agenda Unveiled: Key Topics and Discussions Ahead!

Islamabad is preparing to host the 23rd meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State, with high-level foreign delegations expected to arrive in the capital today.

The two-day event will take place at the Jinnah Convention Center on October 16, bringing together leaders from SCO member countries to address important regional and international issues.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will host a dinner in honor of the visiting delegations and will formally welcome the guests upon their arrival at the convention center. After the reception and group photo session, the conference will officially commence.

According to the Foreign Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate the conference with a welcome address, followed by speeches from the heads of foreign delegations. The agenda includes the signing of significant documents, culminating with concluding remarks from Prime Minister Sharif. A luncheon will also be held to honor the participants.

At the end of the event, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and the SCO Secretary General will brief the media on the key outcomes and insights from the conference.

Extensive Security Measures

To ensure the safety of visiting dignitaries, Islamabad has implemented stringent security protocols, deploying 12,674 personnel. This includes 6,963 officers from the Federal Police, 1,500 from the Frontier Corps (FC), 2,000 from the Police Constabulary, and an additional 850 personnel from Sindh Police. The Pakistan Rangers have assigned 1,361 personnel for security duties.

A total of 607 vehicles have been designated for the security of VIPs attending the conference, with around 3,000 personnel stationed along the routes used by these VIPs. Security around the residences of VIPs will be managed by 1,783 personnel, while 444 officers will be stationed at the Jinnah Convention Center. Additionally, 400 personnel will monitor entry points into the Red Zone, and 451 members of the Quick Response Force will be stationed at checkpoints to ensure immediate action if necessary.

The city is fully prepared to guarantee the safety and success of this significant international event, with security being a top priority in the planning process.
