Riyadh – Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal, widely known as the “Sleeping Prince” of Saudi Arabia, has passed away after spending nearly two decades in a coma following a tragic traffic accident in 2005.
His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, confirmed the news and announced that funeral prayers will be held on Sunday at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, following the Asr prayer.
Prince Alwaleed suffered a severe head injury in a car crash while studying in London, which left him in a complete coma. Since then, he had been under intensive medical care, first in a hospital and later at home, with his family refusing to withdraw life support. Prince Khaled repeatedly expressed his belief that the decision over his son’s life rested with God alone, and his perseverance drew widespread respect across the Arab world.
Despite some brief signs of movement over the years that sparked moments of hope, Prince Alwaleed never regained full consciousness. His condition touched millions across the region, and his story became a symbol of patience, faith, and parental devotion.
