
Saudi Arabia’s senior Islamic scholar, the Grand Mufti, has died.
The kingdom and global leaders mourn the top Islamic scholar, praising his lifelong service to Islam and the Muslim community.
Saudi Arabia – (Specail Correspondent / Web Desk) – Saudi Arabia announced the death of its Grand Mufti, Sheikh Abdulaziz Al al-Sheikh, on Tuesday. The news was shared by the official Saudi Press Agency. The Grand Mufti was the country’s most important religious leader. He also led the Council of Senior Scholars and other major Islamic organizations.
Funeral prayers will be held at a main mosque in Riyadh. By order of King Salman, prayers will also be said for him in Mecca and Medina. These prayers will happen in all mosques across Saudi Arabia. The Royal Court said his passing is a great loss for the kingdom and the Muslim world. They praised his long service to Islam.
King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman shared their condolences with the mufti’s family and all Muslims. Leaders from Pakistan also expressed their deep sadness. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the Muslim world has lost a great scholar.
The Prime Minister noted that the Grand Mufti worked his whole life for Islam. His efforts to unite Muslim people will never be forgotten. Pakistan shares in the grief of its Saudi friends. The mufti’s work is seen as a bright chapter in religious history. Future generations will still learn from his teachings.
