Saudi Arabia joins Pakistan under a mutual nuclear umbrella.
The new defense agreement marks a significant shift in Middle Eastern security, offering mutual protection against external threats.
Saudi Arabia – Pakistan – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Pakistan’s defense minister has stated that the country’s nuclear weapons will be shared with Saudi Arabia for protection under a new agreement. This is the first direct confirmation that Pakistan has extended its “nuclear umbrella” to include the kingdom. The defense pact means that an attack on either country will be treated as an attack on both.
This agreement is seen as a major shift in the Middle East’s balance of power. Analysts believe it sends a strong message to Israel, which is widely thought to have its own nuclear weapons. The deal was announced shortly after an Israeli strike in Qatar, which raised safety concerns among Gulf nations.
When asked about the pact, the minister explained that Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities, including its trained military forces, would be available to Saudi Arabia. He stressed that the agreement is a mutual promise of defense against aggression from any source, without naming a specific country. The door may also be open for other nations to join this security arrangement in the future.
The partnership between the two countries is not new. Saudi Arabia has a long history of supporting Pakistan, including during the development of its nuclear program. Pakistan’s nuclear weapons were originally created as a defense against its neighbor, India. One of its missiles can travel far enough to reach Israel.
